Had a walkabout last night with fellow managers from the group. Decided to see how buzzing Cannery is.... with all the 'hit-me-up' promos. Here's my personal view of the whole situation....

1. Traffic in Clarke Quay is awesome. People everywhere, looking good, doesn't matter if they're partying or just having dinner with friends... Everyone seem to be club-hopping. With that kind of traffic, any club with the most hype would definitely get the crowd.

2. We were hanging-out with some people at Fashion Bar for a drink, then to Clinic. Fashion Bar, lots of 'show-offs'..... champagne, cock's-tail, and bottle drinkers. 'Show-offs' are actually good for a club...... this is a place for locals who want to be segregated from the mainstream society, expats who hopes to get lucky, and models waiting for somebody to offer them drinks.

3. Music was ok, but I thought it was funny for a bar of that stature to play Indie, Alternative, and out of nowhere........ White Horse at 10.30pm...??? Maybe its what defined as 'bar music'.... I don't know... they said they are MoS, they have better music knowledge than anybody in Timbuktu.

4. When to Clinic, had a few drinks with the outlets manager... (who was kind enough to show us around). Got a lil' intimidated by the music..... Clinic plays Retro & Mambo Jumbo...??????!!!! damn!!! the same DJ that played in Mdm Wong. I closed my eyes and felt like I was in the old Mohd Sultan Rd. Can't blame the DJ though..... they have to play what management wants and they are desperate to have the crowd in. ( in the background, Bon Jovi was going IT'S MY LIFE...!!)

5. Met with DJ Godwin P. the bugger slimmed down so much and look like another friend from Dunlop St. Had a small chat about things.... then he asked, Yukun with you? Full-time? What you all actually playing?......

6. Walked past the other Cannery outlets but there were not much else to see. MoS was erm..... so so......?

Conclusion:

a. the only thing nice at Clinic were the 2 chandeliers.
b. Fashion Bar was alright..... I might come back, provided they don't play White Horse, and the music doesn't stop abruptly all the time.
c. Service was suprisingly good at both outlets.... or is it coz they know who we were?
d. The crowd at Clinic wasn't really beautiful. The quality of girls wasn't that great. They weren't really pack at midnight......
e. What happen to the music policy at The Cannery....?? claim to have the best pool of DJs on the island, but have to relent to mainstream? This proves one thing...... SINGAPORE DOESN'T HAVE A DANCE MUSIC SCENE, and PARTY-GOERS ARE STILL STUCK IN 1989.
f. For the next 1 year, St James Powerhouse will have the bigger pie, PERIOD. Go Canto!!

Next, we're getting ready for another funky weekend at eM Studio........... Funky House at its best...... with yours truly and partner-in-crime (literally) YUKUN.

ha ha .. i was there for meeting at 9pm with Godwin. And I do my rounds in Cannery too. Maybe I was too early, nothing much to see except those sitting outside all the outlets. Buzzing everywhere on Wed nite, nice place to stroll and eye candy :P
