OH NO!!!! NOT AGAIN.......!!

By Leigh Pasqual, For The Straits Times

The Straits Times
SINGAPORE is in the middle of a review and public consultation exercise conducted by the government on its proposed amendments to the Penal Code. A significant number of amendments are being proposed to the sections related to 'Sexual Offences'.

Many of the proposed amendments are progressive and in keeping with the Government's attempts to bring the Penal Code up to date. But there is one big sticking point - 'marital immunity'.

As the law now stands, a husband cannot be prosecuted for raping his wife: marital immunity exists for a man who engages in non-consensual sexual intercourse with his wife who is 13 years of age or above.

In 1996, the issue of criminalising non-consensual sex between spouses was raised as part of a public consultation exercise to amend the Women's Charter. The idea was rejected.

... what if.... your wife says..... "darling, don't bite....." or "..... harder!!!" but you do the opposite.... is it RAPE? 'coz its non-consesual sex.

or maybe, if THEY really wanna help the women, married couples and such.... they should put a law on "fore-play". Its illegal to have sex without 'foreplay'.... unless...... (lawmakers can spend time looking for reasons, just to make it more exciting and worthy of talking about it during Parliament.)

and.... what if the husband is the victim?.... what are our rights.....??!

somewhere, someday, somehow, a husband came back moody from a long day in the office. As he walked in, the wifey pulled him to the bed, tie him up to the headboard and start whipping endlessly..... (he's not the victim yet). later on they made rough, sadomastic love. Wifey riding like she's on a bull-with-a-single-horn.... biting all over as the husband lay helpless tied to the bed. Love sweat dripping down their body, while both gasping for air....

Just as the husband was about to....... wifey back-off and went to the loo...
(NOW THAT'S BEING A VICTIM!!!), especially when still being tied to the bed.

husband: "....err.... excuse me officer, I wanna report a rape." :(

police officer: "congratulations!! at least you gettin' some....."

my favourite Bond.....

I think i'm gonna stop watching the movie in the cinemas, maybe just wait coz its definitely gonna be on TV and DVDs, VCDs or whatever they can come up with. everytime an new bond movie comes out, they'll show it on tv over and over again.... anyway, you can actually know what's in the movie. No prizes for guessing how the movie goes.....

here's my take on the Bond movies....

1. he's suppose to be a secret agent, but there are thousands of websites dedicated to him. we all know his name, what he does, how he talks, and, how he likes his Martini..... shhhhh.... its secret!
2. a bullet from James Bond's gun could kill a whole regiment of the North Korean army. A battalion of North Korean army with machine guns can't even get Mr Bond.
3. the bad guy always confess when Bond is tied up or helpless, after-which, JB would somehow get loose and find a way to spoil the villain's plan. Usually, the villain would confess when THEY are the ones being tied-up or cuffed or detained..... right?
4. the 'secret' tools featured in the early part of the movie always find its way, whether its in emergency or an aid to get the girls...
5. Corny one-word pick-up lines always did the tricks to get the girls.... try not use them in real-life situations. It reflects the amount of vocab in ur brain.
6. JB seems to not have any expressions during emergency situations, and his hair always stays the same during these times..... but everything else changes when he's in the arms of a woman..... multiple face expressions, hair-disorders.....

I'm sure that there's more if you look up at other websites about MR 007. I'm just gonna stop here coz its gonna annoy many of my friends...(who adores James Bond or anything that sound and look like one). I sure its a good movie. I hope Daniel Craig will fare better than Timothy Dalton... in the meantime, I'm gonna settle for some penguins who sings MY WAY in Espanol.. and THAT'S A GOOD MOVIE!!

I thought I'd write something about what I saw in India.... which made me think about our lil' Singapore....

Last week was my 1st time in India, New Delhi. didn't know what to expect or how far behind/forward are they... well actually, most of the things that I saw around me or on the streets resembles Singapore/Kuala Lumpur as its in the 50s/60s. Yes.... things look as if they never change.... except for some parts which I think is quite alright.... what I mean some parts are in some clubs or joints that I went to...

I was at this place called Olive in New Delhi. chillout joint, place infested with rich kids spending their parents money and hangin' around looking cool. all the girls look like Karisma Kapoor, while some of the boys (only some) look really cool. drinks are bloody expensive but, they seem happy to keep walking to the bar and back with a beer or something. What amazes me is what I saw on stage. Yep.... there was a DJ with turntables and CD players, armed with a laptop. he was flanked by a tabla player, 2 vocalist (male & female). I swear I thought they were playing from a cd from one of Jose Padilla's album. As I came nearer, they were all playing 'live'!!!
damn!! the DJ was droping beats from laptop, scratch from turntables, dropping samples from cd, the tabla guy was doing his thing and the vocalist... goodness me!! the girl was just doing the hymms while the guy singing verses.. it sounds bloody awesome.... !!! try imagine those tracks from Talvin Singh, or some of the tracks from DJ-Kicks Thievery Corporation... you'll know what i'm talking about.

Well, maybe I wasn't blown away.... but I'm impressed with the sound quality, the mix, and how the performers blend with each other's 'flow'. and guess wat...? its not something 'new' or 'ground-breaking'.... its been like that for the past 5 years in paris, Italy and Spain. there's a place in New York called Belly House doing this kinda shit for the past 3 years. In Singapore, I believe it has started 3 years ago..... its more jazzy, but I'm sure it's nothing new.... if you wanna know more... checkout Dean & Kaye, Jazzadelics and of course The Tektile Movement. Btw, remember when Maniam the percussionist use to play at Zouk...?... hah!! some people thinks its 'new' and 'ground-breaking'....

That's like the music side of Delhi.......

Next. checkout this car.....

this happens to be the pride & joy of the Indian roads....... its called the Ambassador by hindustan Motors. Its only being used by the government officials and taxis. As amusing as it look, and as old as it look,..... this is what the Indians are proud of as this IS their car....... its not about how it look like, how fast it goes or what the car can do (even though I think this car has the loudest horn you've ever heard).... the fact that this car belongs to the Indian public, something that they can call their own. The only time that I saw a Mercedes was at the hotel where were we staying.... it was for the visiting Afghanistan president's limo, it was an 8-door Mercedes limo. (yes, yes... we stayed at the same hotel with the Afghan prez)....

To the Indian people.... I salute you guys for being proud of your own product!!

Unfortunately, I can't say the same here..... this is why.....

We've got talents all over the island, yet most of them are still floating around desperate for a chance or opportunity... only A chance! here's what I thought... somehow, somewhere,.... somebody always knows a someone who is talented with something but is not getting a chance, opportunity or somewhat. they ended up being a nobody, unemployed and unwanted. In fact, some who actually did get the chance, blew it away, took it for granted and abuse it.... I wonder who's to blame....

however, I still think that there are a few more who are being left out due to language barrier, dialect group, or even, being stereotyped. We've got musicians, artist, DJs and other talents whom are being left out, simply because they are not Caucasian enough...?? damn that's old skool!!

I remembered once that DJ Rattle (ranked Top 10 in the world) couldn't land an advertisement job for Motorola b'coz he didn't look 'commercial' enough. Ya he's fat, but he's CUTE!!... Marc Anthony, the local sax player (he plays better than Kenny G!!), couldn't get the better gigs b'coz he looks like a Beng from Joo Chiat Place...?? (if you don't believe that he's good, come watch him this friday at Pool Room Bar.... I'll buy you a drink if you think he's crap!!)

I was once turned down for an audition in a club who's fronting House music.... the question they asked me...."you sure you can play house music, not RnB??... can you really play on turntables??...". In the end, i didn't get the chance to audition coz they say..... "I look like a hip hop DJ, it doesn't suit the club." .... what the .....!! I was wearing an Adidas track top and Levi's... what's so hip hop...??

Anyway... I got the drift.

Back to the topic....

I think we should give our own talents a chance first and groom them to be world class.... from then on, we can start appreciating our very own product and brag along with it...... and that is why, I want to invite all the local talents to get in touch with me if you have what it takes to be 'world-class'... my new outlet will be the venue for local talents to showcase, and show-off. In fact, I'm inviting non-locals also to come forward and share my space..... if you're into music, art, visuals or even poetry.... hook up with me and lets talk crap!!

This is not a revolution, its just a movement.... to share all things local!!

You've heard Asia Bagus...... now, lets go for the Singapura Style.....

Mari Kita Rakyat Singapura, Sama-sama menuju.... (drum 'n' bass mix).... check it out at MP3.com.sg (duh!!)

Peace Out & Selamat Malam (Good Night!)
Last night I fell asleep whille pondering about the 'new' and up-coming clubs.... yes, I'm talking about LifeBrandz babies of KandiBar, FBar (FashionBar), BICE, The Clinic & Aurum and my favourite - BarFly.....

It all stated there as 'New concept', 'out-of-the-box', 'avant-garde', 'ground-breaking'........... hmmm..... I think it refers to all things happening in Singapore... Yes, I think its new to Singapore but not in other parts of the world. All these entertainment brands have been around for awhile and are well-known in the western countries. and now they have arrive on our shores, promoting new cultures and choices in entertainment... not forgetting on putting a hard-stamp on status levels and society standards. Interesting!!..... but, is it really new...?? I beg to differ.....

The rich, the beautiful, the creative, the Bengs & Mats, the Cool, the wannabe Cool, the wannabe Rich, the trying-to-look-Beautiful (at least they think they are...), the models, the 'models'-who-think-they-are-models, etc....... (if you notice, they are no 'the-poor-people' status.... it doesn't exist in Singapore) .... all these groups of people will be saturated.... and I think, Singaporeans like this alot..... so much for One People, One Nation, One .......? hah!

On another note..... some of the clubs market it's entertainment as 'live' DJ sets... I'm beginning to wonder what is a 'live' DJ set?.... a 'live' DJ? DJ playing on turntables and CD/MP3 players?, a DJ who actually play on these things....? a DJ who's playing on accesories, every night...? - just like DJ Shadow.... or is it just a DJ who's alive and capable. nevertheless, I'm sure its gonna be interesting.

I wonder if any of these outlets would offer me a slot someday.... don't worry whether I'm good or not, just worry that I'm a Malay dude playing Deep/NuHouse, BrokenBeats and Downtempo... - sorry I can't play Reggeaton.... ;)

One People, One Nation, .....err.... One for Money, Two for the show, Three get ready, and pay some more!!

damn!!... need my medication now.... need my Ben & Jerry's ice cream NOW!!!!

we're just a block away from the new year.... how time flies....

looking at all the happenings in the nightlife, clubbing culture, I think we gonna have an interesting december. wonder how the 'playas' deal with sharing the 'piece of pie' during the party period. not forgetting the new clubs opening their doors in dec..... Kandi Bar, Cafe Del Mar, Power House, Fashion Bar, EM by the River and @Em (or whatever its gonna be called). In fact, all those who will be opening the outlets are major players of the scene. party-goers would benefit from all these as the players will try and out-do each other with promos, cheap offers and alternative entertainment.

Recently, Singapore was voted as having one of the best nightlife... not in Asia, but in the world. hmmmm...... I'm still pondering as to how in the hell did we got that....?!

Accolades aside, I'm actually excited about our new outlet, EM. don't know why, but I have a good feeling about this. while everyone are jumping the bandwagon into the hip hop/RnB scene..... I think we could be one of the few who has the ability to be world standards in terms of clubbing culture. I'm not dishing out details yet but... I'm looking at the best of our local jocks sharing the decks with me....
in fact, not only DJs but musicians and producers as well.

I'm crossing my fingers and hoping for the best......

Anyway, if things don't look good after a year, the consultants can always change it to another dbl 0.... 'affordable' drinks, RnB/Retro music, aliens selling/drinking shooters and endless queue a the door. FUN!

Christmas coming, birthday coming, bonus coming, and more work. its just another day at the office..... its gonna be hell.... Bring It on!! I'm ready....

Btw, I want Serato Scratch Live for birthday......!

Report taken from Yahoo News......

Thursday November 9, 11:34 AM Reuters
Singapore may legalise anal, oral sex for heterosexuals

SINGAPORE, Nov 9 (Reuters) - Singapore is considering decriminalising oral and anal sex between consenting heterosexual adults, but not between homosexuals, official documents show.

The Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday posted a public consultation paper about proposed amendments to the city-state's penal code, Singapore's primary criminal legislation.

"We intend to repeal s.377, rescoping it such that anal and oral sex, if done in private between a consenting adult heterosexual couple aged 16 years old and above, would no longer be criminalised," the paper said

Currently, section 377 of the Penal Code "criminalises all forms of carnal intercourse against the order of nature, other than vaginal intercourse".

The paper makes no mention of the decriminalisation of oral and anal sex between men.

"Homosexuality is not widely accepted or tolerated in Singapore," the pro-government Straits Times quoted a home affairs official as saying on Thursday.

Under Singapore law, a man who is found to have committed an act of "gross indecency" with another man could be jailed for up to two years. Despite the official ban on gay sex, Singapore has a thriving gay scene.

wat the hell is going on here......?? the government are concerned about people having oral/anal sex....????!!!!!

dude!!..... we got bigger problems!!!!!! wat the fark!!!! let me list some of the problems which I think the governing body should look into....

1. city infested with hip-hop wannabes.....
2. MPs trying to get into hip-hop to get close to youth.....(try nominate Sheikh Heikel as NMP)
3. Mat Rock.... extinct. (all the mat rock listening to RnB now...) wat happen to Helloween, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath....?
4. People go to clubs wanting to listen to radio music.... (they should just sit in the car or stayed at home.....)
5. clubs getting shut down, b'coz promoter girls wearing bikini top and micro skirts.... (its ok with the pubs at Tanjong Pagar... the girls don't have to wear anything.... the police are there to keep an EYE on them)
6. phone lines being cut-off coz of overdue bills of $6.50....(damn StarHub...!)
7. dammit...!! I got many more but I don't think you wanna read anymore of these shit!!

c'mon dude...!! we got bigger problems.....!! let them screw themselves happy..... we've got old people stranded in the old folks home, the streets, under the bridges.... dammit!!
Ishtar Alabina: Habibi (Sawah)

French/Egyptian singer Ishtar jumping the bandwagon with ragga-beats....... I still prefer her track Last Kiss........ emo shit!!

Anyway, I thought this track is cool.... cheezy but cool. It doesn't sound nice anymore coz I hear it on ringtones all around me..... darn...

I bet radio RIA/Suria will be playing this track in a day or two.... just passed them the cd.

George Micheal

still on the subject of GAY NATION...... here's an awesome video.... from my favourite singer....!! one of the best concepts for music video...

ENJOY!
Pink Martini - una notte a Napoli

this is one of the best singers I've known.... not because she can sing, but her versatility in her music. her song SYMPATIQUE is very well known, but nothing beat all the tracks in the "TOMATO" album....

children.... this is wat I mean by "good music".... some may beg to difer...

have some martini.... in Pink!!

I was at Great World City last sunday, doing groceries, on my own..... (I like it there coz its more civilized than Causeway Point, NorthPoint and Orchard Road). I know its crazy for me to live in Woodlands and shop in GWC.... however, something else happen.

I was in Cold Storage doing my thing, through the aisle, when I realised that I had the same guy following me from the vegetables side to the frozen meat area...(if u've been to GWC cold storage, u'd know wat I'm talking about). some how, I turned and looked at him.... he smiled and start talking.... normal friendly conversation. It went on for the next 20 mins, when I realised he was actually trying to pick me up.... how you asked..?? I'll let you guys interpret the conversation.....

man: hey, I like your sling bag....
(I was carrying my LV slings)
me: thanks, urs are nice too.....
( he carrys a Bally sling)
man: u always shop here? alone?
me: nope....
man: I live around this area, alone. where do u live....?
me: somewhere far from here.....(sarcastic)
man: if you like it here, u're always welcome to hangout with me at my place....
me: hahahah..... sure!(very sarcastic)
man: lets come back to my place for a drink..??!!!
me:....???!!!!!??? (what de f*ck??!!)

I thought that pick-up line is use to pick women.....only.

at first I felt sick knowing a man wants to pick me up.....(i remembered the scenes from BrokeBack Mountain)....but some how, it struck me that I'm better off than most guys, coz I can attract men, women, transvestite, aliens and other forms of living things...... it may not be Fatal Attraction but it does compliment me as a likable person.....!!

I was told that in every male, we have this thing called "gay tendency".... without knowing it, every straight guy has a lil' bit of 'gayness' in them. I sort of believe that long time ago. I have been dubbed gay, called gay or thought I was gay long time ago....

I was thought to be gay because of the way I use to dress up 3 years ago....
I was called gay because I hangout with a prominent gay celebrity from the Suria channel.
I was thought to be gay because I never talk to women when I was a DJ at Buzz. Now when I talk to women, people thinks I'm flirting and cheating behind they're back.......

Few years ago, I like going to Centro on sunday nights.... people who saw me confirmed that I was gay..... wat if I was there coz I know the DJs, love the music, and it was my only night out....?

Anyway, the guy didn't manage to get my number or anything.... and I was polite enough to disappoint him.... so, I went home, had coffee and Cornetto.... and watch THE GODFATHER 3.

After all these accusations of being gay, I'm not the least bothered or angry..... in fact, a lot times i feel proud and flattered! Why??..... Because gay people are always talented, dress nicely, have a flair for finer things in life, trendy, and always do well in society...... If you people thinks I'm gay..... thank you.... I'm so farking flattered....

Kristin wouldn't mind if I'm guy..... it keeps the girls away..... ;)

Sequal to the previous post.......

I forgot to introduce my girlfriend.... here you guys....

People, meet Naima.......

Naima, meet the people......

p.s. - its not a fantasy..... I haven't taken my medicine!

I'm in the midst of coordinating an event for Carlsberg called "World of Friends".... somehow i remembered about some things happen recently....

I don't have many friends whom I can call 'friends'..... My friends are those in Tektile, my DJs, my office colleagues and the rest are all in the other planets. Recently, i was told that my friends gave me up saying I have been cheating on my girlfriend.... was accused of bringing different girls to all the time to Tektile's gig or club's event..... spent money on women..... and best of all.....been sleeping around!

WOW!!!.... i wish I have been doing all those things..

sometimes we shouldn't be so judgemental. Just because I work in a club, dress like a 16-year old and deejay for food, doesn't mean I'm just like any muthfckr u see at Orchard Towers. Maybe I spent my money on my family and house, (since I'm the only one working in the family).. maybe I speak to other women because, I'm blessed with a mouth and voice, and a brain to communicate.... maybe other people come to Tektile gig coz they like watching us perform or, they 'happen' to be at the club....??!.... wat I'm really sure of is... I spent too much time at work... whether at the club or in the office. I love wat I do.... is dat wrong...??!!

nevertheless, I know all this accusations are wrong coz my friends didn't say all this, b'coz, it didn't happen. It's just another way of communicating to me.... I know I will have my friends around me this Friday for the CD launch, but I'm gonna "cross my leg, and shut my mouth..." - so dat there won't be any more accusations for the next 2 weeks, at least.

I just found out who told on me...... those guys in the picture above!!!

- back to work..... "World of Friends" - Carlsberg, probably the best beer in the world..... damn I need my beer now.....

Kristin's away in India...... miss her already.
