Why do some of us allow others to make use of us in the name of friendship, love, career or humane? Why do we let others hurt our feelings when we know that we can prevent it? Why do we get into relationships when we know that its never gonna get anywhere? Why do we buy things that we would never wear/use? Why do we forgive them even though they took everything and gave nothing? Why do we share sorrow, but not happiness? Why do we say thank you when we are the one who gives? Why do I have to sow the seeds, while others enjoy the fruits? Why must it happen again and again, and again, and again, and again.....

This is how the world around us evolves. Eat or be eaten, kill or be killed...

This is not ranting or complaining or expressing my grievances. Its just some things that I see around me everyday. Sad but true..... Sometimes I wonder how do these people go to sleep at night, knowing of what they've done. Most of the time they just don't care. Pity those who gave time and effort to help, and sacrificing personal agendas, just to be a FRIEND.

Its a DOG-EAT-DOG world........ you choose what kinda you wanna be......

In the meantime, here's a video I wanna share with all you folks. This is how real RnB/Soul music starts. This is what musical talents is all about. This is a video of Alicia Keys, Angie Stone & Jamie Foxx, doing freestyle/impromptu Soul. Nothing beats freestyling....... For those who knows The Tektile Movement, you would understand how we freestyle with House music. I miss doing freestyling with Mel...... I wonder if anyone remembered the Johnnie Walker party at Pool Room Bar, when I freestyled with MC Mad Loco, .... and the Choya party at EM BTR, When I freestyled with Maya, Enrique and the rest of the Tektile boys. Kyoto Jazz Massive would have been proud of us.

Recently, I met with some very interesting people. Came up to me and introduce themselves as 'international DJs'. Obviously, they are locals with a very distinct accent. Claims that they just returned from Australia after playing in numerous clubs for the past 3 years. They were kind enough to offer me their services which come with their vast experiences of playing overseas. Not only that, they had lots to say about other local DJs, the music, how the clubs are manage or how it should be. During the conversation, I had questions running thru my mind, which I didn't even bother asking, as I realized that people would say anything to undermine anybody else. The truth is... they did it to themselves.

To these people........ I can't be the least bothered who you are, where you've played, with whom, or what you think of how I'm running my game. And if you think that you're any better than any of us..... why not go back to Australia and keep doing what you were doing..... if its even true. If you're soooooooo good, how come you're looking for gigs or jobs here?? Anybody can call themselves 'internatinal DJ', 'international ass-holes', or whatsoever...... Its not my problem, its not my shit, its not my ache......

There's only a few whom I know who would survive the international circuit..... in fact, I'm not sure if I can say the same for myself. (Btw, playing in Ipoh doesn't mean you're 'international DJ'). As far as I'm concern.... only Aldrin, Yukun, Small, Ian Kane, Has and Ollie Dez are the only international DJs we have on the island. They are the only people who always have bags of tricks, knowledge, charisma and experience to stand along the other international talents. Never under-estimate the world if the furthest you've been to is your momma's bedroom. You are most welcome to brag about your overseas gig to anybody you want...... cook up stories, enhance the experiences to your friends....... bla, bla, bla. The fact is you know it yourself that deep down , you're just hunger for the recognition without even wanting to work for it. "JUST BECAUSE WE'RE WEARING THE SAME AIR JORDANS DOESN'T MEAN YOU CAN JUMP AS HIGH AS ME......"

There is nothing wrong with being humble, nothing wrong not knowing much, nothing wrong with lacking in experience, nothing wrong with being ugly, nothing wrong at all. In time, with hard work and good attitude, we'll all be the same. If you think you're good...... there's always someone better.

If you really wanna play overseas....... I've got vacancy in Sentosa. Bring it on, bitch! (hahahahah)

Leadership can be thought of as a capacity to define oneself to others in a way that clarifies and expands a vision of the future.(unless we prefer to glorify our past)

What you always do before you make a decision is consult. The best public policy is made when you are listening to people who are going to be impacted. Then, once policy is determined, you call on them to help you sell it. (they forgot to call me...maybe they lost my number)

In times of change, learners inherit the Earth, while the learned find themselves beautifully equipped to deal with a world that no longer exists (I'm prettily equipped with my feater boas and blonde wig)

Whoever is providing leadership needs to be as fresh and thoughtful and reflective as possible to make the very best fight. (making the best fight, doesn't mean i can win the fight....)

I cannot give you the formula for success, but I can give you the formula for failure: which is: Try to please everybody. (Everybody means somebody who is a nobody like anybody)

There's nothing more demoralizing than a leader who can't clearly articulate why we're doing what we're doing. (this is so funny especially if u can't pronounce it properly, but it can be irritating if u try saying it with Style & Passion)

Pity the leader caught between unloving critics and uncritical lovers. (no need to pity, it was never sincere in the first place)

If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader. ( I rest my case.......)

When leaders take back power, when they act as heroes and saviors, they end up exhausted, overwhelmed, and deeply stressed. (the right word is BURNED-OUT, it look something like ME)

The leaders who work most effectively, it seems to me, never say "I." And that's not because they have trained themselves not to say "I." They don't think "I." They think "we"; they think "team." They understand their job to be to make the team function. They accept responsibility and don't sidestep it, but "we" gets the credit. This is what creates trust, what enables you to get the task done. (I'm tired of explaining ......)

A leader takes people where they want to go. A great leader takes people where they don't necessarily want to go, but ought to be. (sometimes people take the leader to where he don't want to go, and end up getting everyone SCREWED......literally!)

If you're not confused, you're not paying attention. (I'm beyond confused.....my mind is FUCKED!)

The manager asks how and when; the leader asks what and why. ("how leh...?" and "when go Kalaoke ar?") - ('what the fuck!' and 'why me?!')

There's more where it came from...... but I just can be bothered...... "if art is a crime, may God forgive me.

Not convince? Bring me to your leader, NOW!!

HERE'S A BORING POSTING........

Today, I decided to pick up my lazy ass and talk a walk downtown, where I ended up at HMV. Guess what did I buy...?? Someone out there guessed it right........ Yeah, I bought my 6th and 7th copy of the movie HITCH. I bought 2 copies just in case if I need to ........hmmm..... leave it at someone's place.

After 3 weeks of shitty feelings, unsettled decisions and uncompassed directions, today I finally feel relax, smiled and laughed at myself....... all because of the movie. Damn. I really really need a life.

"Every man has the ability and right to sweep a girl of her feet anytime, anyday, anywhere...... it just need the right broom....."

"never lie, steal, cheat and drink... if you have to, lie for the good of love ones, steal from leaving bad companys, cheat death..... and drink for the moments...."

Oh well..... so, i heard everyone had a good public holiday eve. Everywhere was slammed and business was encouraging. In some places, I heard it was better than NYE party. Now, thats VERY encouraging. Does that mean we're back in business, again?

Now, here's my question....... Because business was good last night, does that mean the music was good only last night? Last I heard, the business wasn't forthcoming coz of the crap music??

Oh........ business was good coz everyone was after the $3 premium drinks (I see...... thanks for explaining) ....... and service was tight despite the stampede of party-goers. Kudos to all the staff for the hard work. You guys went beyond your capabilities and strove for a great night......

And lastly........ I hope next week wouldn't be too bad coz we're tired of getting 'stick' that the music is bad every time business is slow. For the record, the boys had a hard time in the DJ console as they were trying their best to please everyone..... they tried going beyond their knowledge and capabilities, but afraid to be blamed if things don't work out........

have a great weekend.........

****************************************************************

Another thing to take note*..........

I always hear that the bands that we have are 'not-up-to-standard', 'squeeky', 'too high pitched', 'over-emotional', 'lack of dressing sense'....... bla, bla, bla............ sure, thats all constructive criticism. Anyway, has anybody actually try going other places and look at other bands....??

I thought the bands we have are mediocre........ I was wrong!! the group of musicians we have are all 'above-average'.....!! I went around looking at others......... ours are much better than the rest!!

And also...... DO NOT COMPARE OUR BANDS WITH THOSE AT DRAGONFLY, LUNAR, & PUMP ROOM (those are show-bands, ours are acoustic bands). Do not embarass yourself by comparing an oyster to a mussel...... they are not found in the same depth of the sea.......

BEAUTIFUL LIFE.........

I'm dedicating the video above to all the old school DJs.... who went thru shit before landing their club residency. Remember those days when music was fun, when setting up for D&Ds was fun as hell...... when playing to factory workers was cool and funny..... remember the days when mobile jocks rule the scene..... remember the days when all mobile DJs can come together and bitch about the difficult clients..... stupid emcees....

Today....... people call themselves DJs and criticize other DJs, just because they've played a gig somewhere..... nowadays, newbies come to the old school jocks and criticize about how we mix our music.....

I bet they didn't know that their parents were fucking in the toilet, while WE old jocks were dropping The Manhattan's "Lets Kiss and Say Goodbye"...... 9 mths later, they came out crying their balls out!!

Btw, after 7 years.... its time to Kiss and say Goodbye..... thanks for everything....

"Hey Melayu DJ!!!.... what the fuck are you doing??!!..... you just killed the bloody business in this club!!..... go back to where you belong. Your ideas and concepts doesn't work here!! We are the best in this business...... and we don't listen to anyone coz we've got the best bartenders in this country!! Do not tell us how to run our business....... its our money, our problems, our club....OURS!! You're just a worker and a puppet...... stay that way....!! Why do you look so blurr...?? I said, Get the FUck outta here....!!"

I was awoken by the harsh voice, and as I opened my eyes..... I couldn't see anybody.... heard the voice but there was nobody! It was dark, and cold...... and the rain was pouring outside.... I took a glimpse of the time.... it was only 5am..... Back to sleep. Not feeling too good. I think I need to see the doctor later. I hate nightmares.......

Never give up, Never surrender

"It looks for the good in people and situations, rather than finding the worst; it discovers what can be done instead of throwing up its hands at what can't; it considers problems large and small, as opportunities to move forward when it would be easier to quit; it makes us human, helping us find the very best in ourselves for those around us and the situations we face. " - Razaq Zacharia

Today I was told that some people will be sent overseas and 'look see' the operations of other clubs in order to help re-vitalise our own outlets..... however, the overseas club happens to be a casino and karaoke joints. Shooting ourselves in the foot again..... or are we thinking about getting into the same shit.

We need to send someone who understands what and how a club should look like, operated, and run. Go to real clubs. Experience what a real club is all about and how it feels like in a club. Come back, apply the knowledge to how it can work in Singapore...... send someone who knows technical, music, fashion, lifestyle, art.

On other sombre note.....

Once again I was blamed for something I didn't do. The bad thing is this time they made it known that its not your fault but they just need someone to blame.......

I've only came back to play dbl O last Friday, but the club's downfall and lack of business is because I played wrong music for the club..... in that case, why ask me to play in the first place? Why ask me to offer PROGRESSIONS to play dbl O (which they will never ever do!) Why propose for a House music night on Fridays? Why even bother employing credible DJs and Entertainment Managers when the 'old bartenders' know what music is right or wrong...... Since we have champion bartenders, who are often rewarded for their accolades, maybe they should know how to help bring back business......??!

Everytime an outlet doesn't do well..... the DJ, music and entertainment is the main source of problem. Everytime!! When the business is back, its because the bartenders made good drinks and sold more drinks.

No wonder bartenders get Gold-plated pin, vouchers, etc... when they win something in Singapore. DJs who win something and represents Asia gets shit for playing 'wrong' music.

Thank you...... will be needing a super-long break.

I'm not sure if its me or the surroundings.... or someone sitting in the 'white house' is high on something....?? 2 weeks ago, they started a new ruling for taxi commuters and taxi drivers..... not sure if it got something to do with the escaped convict, nation's safety, or Total Defence..... not sure who's gonna benefit from all these.

Few months ago, they raised the taxi charges to encourage more taxis on the road, for us the commuters. Now that the taxi drivers have earned more, not many of them wanna drive more. That leaves us the commuters with shortage of taxis, especially at night. Thanks for that!!

Now....... you can't hail or alight anywhere in the CBD except at a taxi point or private driveway. Even that, at a taxi point for 3 taxis, and you're in the 4th taxi waiting to get off with 3 empty taxis in front of you, you're not allowed to alight...... until your taxi gets into the allocated spot....... confusing?? Try asking the taxi drivers........

Last week a Cisco officer tried to fine a taxi driver when the passenger alights before the taxi point. Whose fault is it? Taxi driver? Passenger? Why don't don't you decide and think about it?

I wonder what were they smoking in there...... at that building opposite Boat Quay. Now that cigarette prices have been increased..... what are they smoking???!! it must have been 'working' really well, especially when they came out with such rulings........

Or...... did they had 'space cakes' before starting their morning sessions....??!

Gimme some......

Why would we need a car when we don't know how to drive?
Why would we want to be Romans when we don't want to speak like Romans?
Why would we wanna dance when we are crippled?
Why would we need a canoe when we already have a speedboat?
Why did you give me a rod but don't allow me to fish?
Why did you give me a silver knife and ask me to cut the tree down?
Why do you wear a watch but keep asking for the time?
Why do you have a bed but prefer sleeping on the floor?
Why do we think we're the fastest when others have already crossed the line?
Why do you call yourself a singer when you only sing in the bathroom?
Why, why, why, why, why.................

STASSH!! @EM STUDIO.........

The boys from STASSH!! dropped by Em Studio for a night of mayhem. Everything was thrown out from the speakers, from Funky House, minimal, tech, funk, mash-ups and even the good sounds of the 80s..... Cameo appearance by Aldrin was a surprise, especially when he dropped Whitney Houston. It was certainly gorgeous..... I mean watching Aldrin imitating Whitney!! that's something you wouldn't see in other parties. Najib Ali and his entourage stayed throughout the night, En Lai partied like boys...... and many other names that we can't mention.

Keith announced his passion and love for Hong Kong curry......... and there were lots of beautiful local chicks!!! and I like how they end the night...... we were all humming to The Romantics "Talking In Your Sleep" and Billy Ocean's "Easy Lover"......

Many more STASSH!! nights to come..... not forgetting the cameos.......

This is the state of my brain right now..........

Its only the 6th day of March, 3rd month of 2008, and 4th day of the week....... I'm already burned-out, tired and lifeless. It feels like the mad-month of December was just last week.....

This week, I missed all the gym time, no off day, and stayed late every night. Not sure if I need a holiday or time-off soon.... not sure what I really want. Not sure if I need another life outside work to keep the balance...... but, there's definitely something lacking.

Sometimes, we work really really hard to achieve something, to make ends meet, to live comfortably, to impress, to make a mark....... sometimes, we have to sacrifice. Sometimes, we lose having company and loved ones. Sometimes we regret...... but most of the time.... we have to move on.

Who says being at the top is smooth-sailing.......?? Who says, "the lesser you know, the better...", ... who says that I'm a "happy-camper"....?? who says I'm 'disgusted'? ....... Its gonna be a long weekend....... in my terms, that's not a good thing. I hope someday I will be appreciated for some of the sacrifices made...... until that day arrives, I'll just keep my mouth shut, my legs crossed and my butt covered........

Sorry folks....... nothing funny, nothing bitchy...... no ranting yet.

Btw, have they caught up with 'that guy' yet........?? The local police should dig up the old cases from the 60s..... there was a story about a notorious Malay fugitive who walked pass 100 police officers without being detected.......... some of the old folks would remember that story......

Idol Idiot

I haven't been watching the tv for quite a while. Today i came home early to rest after a hectic mid-week, hoping to catch some rest and sleep. Unfortunately, the tv was on and the American Idol was showing. So, I watched a lil', knowing that I will definitely fall asleep. To my surprise, some of the performers caught my attention with their talents and.........ermmm....... nevermind.
That 17-year old guy..... David Archuleta...... damn! he's talented and his voice is golden... in simple English...... I'm now officially a FAN!!

And..... apart from that guy..... you should check-out this pinoy.....HOTT!!!! man! can't explain but.... she's hott!! She's like the 2nd pinoy that I'm crazy about... the other one was an Aussie Pinoy (Kris), this one..... Ameri-Noy.... and, no! I'm not about to go walking around Lucky Plaza on Sundays. Ramiele Malubay is HOTT!! Maybe she could get hotter if she stop trying to be a cutie......

I told you didn't I.....??
Whassgoooood this weekend......!!

Just in case if you wanna do something out of the norm.........

Friday Night in dbl O.....

Sunday afternoon in Sentosa.....

A WEDDING AFFAIR (the tv show)

Once again, local tv are reminding us how 'creative' they are by having another programme titled A WEDDING AFFAIR. Which part of this will interest anyone who's hunger for quality tv programmes? Do you really think that the tv ratings will rocket-sky with this kind of programme? What is so interesting about watching other people going thru their experience to get married? Are there really that many singles, miserable singles that will kill to watch this programme? Does married people really wanna watch this programme? So....... what happen to people like me.....? Even if I'm getting married, why would I want to watch other people doing their stuffs? I will definitely do not want to look like them, or have the same wedding styles. Some say its 'business tv', its all about commercialism. Now, which part of business will I be part of it? Am I gaining anything? Do I get a rebate for crappy tv programming?

Does this got to do with the escaped prisoner thingy? Since the tv show Prison Break was a hit, now someone escaped, they'd rather put wedding shows..... hoping that it could inspire, aspire or retire......?? Why aren't there anymore black sitcoms like it used to have, Jamie Foxx show, My Wife & Kids (Damon Wayans), The Fresh Prince of Bel Air....... Why do they have the Asian version of Ripley's Believe It or Not...... with Allan Wu????!! Damn......

In Dubai, they have tv shows teaching women how to 'please' men...... teaching couples the various positions of love-making...... that could be interesting........

Its already Sunday...... enough of the "Manhunt 2008" jokes. Lets get into some serious topic......

I seriously think that MELODY CHEN is Hot!! But I was told that she likes women.......?? What's with the ring on the finger....?? CB!!

In the meantime, a reminder to all, if you injured your leg, or have a cramp, do not walk at night. Chances are.... you may be stopped by the local authorities for trying to impersonate some fugitive which they STILL haven't caught yet. With all the technologies that we have, the escaped convict is still at large............

It reminds me of an incident which happened some time ago..... Remember the story where the Americans manage to find Saddam Hussein even though he's hiding 200m underground in a secret bunker, but they still can't find the killer who shot TuPac Shakur in the middle of the Las Vegas strip........

LATEST NEWS

The RSAF fighter pilots have just been activated to join in the hunt for the FUGITIVE!! I'm sure you've heard of all the jets flying around today........

Fighter pilots activated?? show off........ so free meh? Activate the Apache Heli-crew la...... I wanna see the helicopter go 360'degrees.

If by tomorrow still not caught, they should activate the Jeffrey Cheung models......
