Reincarnation or just a bad dream??

Closing Ceremony of the National Stadium - 30th June 2007

This morning I woke up, switched on the TV and had a great shock. Not 'big-shock'.... but 'great-shock'. When I switched on the TV, the repeat Singapore-Iran game was on. I wasn't shocked that Singapore lost, its expected, Iran is a very good team with lots of European-based players. I was a lil' bit amazed that the Singapore jersey is now sponsored by NIKE. I thought it was PUMA, then GRANDSPORT, then TIGER. Didn't even know there was a sports brand called TIGER.

Anyway, what was shocking to me was....... the NATIONAL STADIUM was still there!!!!! Wow!! Isn't it a miracle?? I thought it was gone ;-)?? Didn't they had a closing ceremony on 30th June 2007? Scheduled to be demolished end of 2007? Scheduled for the new Singapore Sports Hub in 2014?

Isn't this already 2010? Or am I ahead of time? Isn't 2007 was like 3 years ago? Why isn't the National Stadium being demolished yet? Not enough construction companies to do the job coz all rushing to finish the IR jobs?? Or, are they contemplating about the sports hub? Does the new sports hub is also a front to house the new 'foreign talents' that's gonna help represent Singapore in the future sport meets? And when they're done, they gonna go back to their mother-land and bitch about Singapore?

Or maybe, someone is contemplating whether the new sports hub is a worth investment or build more condominiums? We are short of the 8 million target of population in Singapore. Obviously, the condominiums is a better bet. We all know in Singapore, the music, art and sports scene will not make any of us millionaires. Why invest in these things??

So....... back in 2007, the government spent a hefty amount to celebrate the closure of national Stadium. Unfortunately, it didn't close. In fact, events are still running there and they are still collecting money for the events at the National Stadium. First, we 'helped' pay for the event to celebrate the closure, and now...... we still paying to get into the stadium to watch the games and events.

And, we seem to be celebrating about it........
